One of the main farming practices for the Arnold Farm is their commercial beef cow/calf operation.  They, along with 7 other farmers in the area are in a beef cattle cooperative called the Hampshire County Pool where they sell their calves together on a board sale held in October each year in Franklin, West Virginia.  All the farmers in the coop work hard to maintain the best quality cattle possible and the genetics among the farms are very similar giving extremely uniform groups of calves that are sold farm fresh, bunk broke, vaccinated, and source verified.  The quality of cattle is outstanding with many satisfied and repeat buyers year after year.  The cattle are sold along with the Pendleton County Pool.  The pool was started in 1998.

Getting ready to load out cattle bound for Pennsylvania

All the farmers go to each other's farms to help work cattle saving a lot of labor.  It is very much a social environment for the guys in the Hampshire County Pool.  Lots of discussion, advice, problem solving, as well as work takes place on cattle working days!
